Secure your WordPress site from hackers

When I first started building and hosting WordPress sites, I struggled to keep my sites secure. I once built and hosted a high profile website for a public figure (a former minister of Uganda) but I almost gave up the gig when the site was hacked and repopulated with Porn and Chinese text.

Recently I ran into a similar situation after a client from a highly competitive market also faced the same issues. I have learnt quite a lot in regards to securing WordPress sites and I would like to share with the community.

Deploying advanced WordPress security

WordPress is the most popular blogging and CMS system, which makes it a favorite target for hackers. Having a WordPress website means that you have to make some extra effort in order to protect you and your visitor’s data. I will discuss much on the best practices for securing a WordPress site, that will help developers/designers do that. It is important to mention that these measures don’t guarantee a 100% protection against hacking attempts, mostly because a 100% secure website doesn’t exist, but they will protect you against the majority of attacks.
